What is Upanayana aka Sacred Thread Ceremony?

It is a moment in a kid's passage of time. A Hindu tradition that welcomes the boy into a spiritual rebirth and adorns him with a set of principles that act as a guidepost for his life. Call it that or a second birth, I see this as a milestone wherein, Paarth is taught the first principles of being grateful for everything that is bestowed upon him, being kind to his Parents and everyone around him, being honest, and following a daily regimen of gratitude. This event is symbolized by a "sacred thread" called the upavita or yajnopavita, which is a loop of three cotton strands that is tied over the left shoulder and under the right arm. He is now accepted as a student for life, one who yearns for learning, discipline and righteousness.

Here is wishing all the best to Paarth to a life full of imagination, exploration and knowledge!
